Due to coronavirus related restrictions the demonstrations had been fewer and smaller than the mass protests that roched Hong Kong.
On another case chief executive Carrie Lam told the press that 12 people were arrested because of illegal entry into mainland and these were not democratic activists being oppressed.
Most of them had been charged with offences such as manufacturing or possessing explosives, arson, rioting, assaulting police or possession of offensive weapons. They were bailed and not allowed to leave Hong Kong.
